So for us, this 1 4″ plywood underlayment was the ticket, especially since the panels are only $13 a piece! I had rip them down into 8″ wide planks for just a teeny cutting fee (like, $3). I like my plank walls with nice wiiiiiide planks, but you can make them whatever width you want of course.
